SIU Center for Family Medicine Expands COVID Testing

The SIU Centers for Family Medicine, in coordination with the State of Illinois and the Illinois Primary Health Care Association, is expanding access to COVID-19 testing for Illinoisans with COVID-19 symptoms and those at high risk. The expansion of testing will help reduce the transmission of the disease and improve health outcomes for those in our communities. SIU Centers for Family Medicine in Carbondale, Quincy and Springfield are hosting sites beginning Monday, April 27. Police Brutality and Public Health

Police brutality illuminates a dark history in our society. There is no single universally agreed upon definition or guideline for when to use force. However, we know it when we see it. Police brutality was clearly on display when adults, children and our community witnessed George screaming he couldn’t breathe, crying out for his mother, and passing away as a knee was placed on his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds. Hotline for IDOC

The Correctional Medicine IDOC COVID-19 Help Line will be operational 24-hours a day during the pandemic The Office of Correctional Medicine, in partnership with the Department of Internal Medicine, recently established a dedicated COVID-19 hotline for the Illinois Department of Corrections to assist with managing the health and well-being of its workforce during this difficult time. A dramatic crash reenactment will show Illini Central High School students what can happen when young people drive or ride with distracted or impaired drivers.
