Hotline for IDOC

Published Date:

The Correctional Medicine IDOC COVID-19 Help Line will be operational 24-hours a day during the pandemic

The Office of Correctional Medicine, in partnership with the Department of Internal Medicine, recently established a dedicated COVID-19 hotline for the Illinois Department of Corrections to assist with managing the health and well-being of its workforce during this difficult time. SIU Medicine’s expertise and efforts will take a large burden off of IDOC management while adding consistency to COVID-19 monitoring processes throughout our communities.

The Correctional Medicine IDOC COVID-19 Help Line will be operational 24-hours a day during the pandemic, until further notice. The Department of Internal Medicine’s dedicated and experienced nursing staff is providing real-time guidance using up-to-date protocol that is reviewed on a regular basis by the Division of Infectious Diseases.

“The Office of Correctional Medicine is proud to provide this service to our Illinois Department of Corrections partners, as our work together continues to grow,” said Dawn DeFraties, Executive Director, Office of Correctional Medicine. "I'm also so proud of the collaborative nature of this hotline, and all of SIU should be proud to offer this service to our community through our first 24-hour hotline."
