Marissa Butcher, PA-C
About me
Marissa Butcher is a physician assistant with the ENT Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at SIU Medicine. A lifelong resident of central Illinois, Marissa understands the importance of having access to high-quality healthcare close to home. “I knew that when I started my career path, I wanted to serve the community that I grew up in.”
Marissa earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Springfield. Influenced by her mother and sister, both nurses, she always knew she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. After being introduced to the physician assistant profession, she felt instantly drawn to the role and went on to complete her physician assistant degree at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
During her clinical training year in Springfield, Marissa discovered her passion for ENT. “I chose ENT as my elective rotation. I met inspiring surgeons, residents, APPs, and nurses. As the rotation was coming to an end, I knew I had a passion for ENT and that SIU ENT specifically would become my future home.”
Marissa has now been part of SIU Medicine’s growing and thriving ENT team for more than 11 years. She says she “couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. I love the diverse group of patients I get to care for every day and the relationships I’ve formed here.”
