Evans Mutua, DNP, FNP-BC

Evans Mutua brings a broad perspective and deep dedication to patient care in his role as a nurse practitioner at SIU Medicine. Though he once envisioned a career in accounting, drawn to numbers and earning an MBA, his parents encouraged him to pursue medicine. Looking back, he’s grateful for their guidance and can’t imagine doing anything else.

Evans is especially passionate about ENT. He values the collaborative environment and ENT’s procedure-based approach that allows for efficient, often immediate diagnosis and treatment, something he sees as a major benefit for patients. "The procedures we do, nasal endoscopies, hearing tests, laryngoscopy, ear cleaning- most people are able to know their diagnoses, treatment plans and what to expect from the first visit they see us." But the biggest driver are the people he works with. "They are the most talented professionals I know and the very best in what they do. I have seen patients travelling hours to be seen by our team."  

Fun fact: He speaks three languages: Kamba, Swahili and English and is currently learning a fourth!
