    About me

Stacy Lee, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than two decades of experience delivering compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy and behavioral health care across primary care, psychiatry, emergency services and community-based settings. She currently serves as the Behavioral Health Specialist in the Department of General Internal Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where she plays a key role in advancing integrated, team-based care for patients with complex medical and psychosocial needs.

Stacy’s clinical practice is grounded in trauma-informed, patient-centered care with a strong emphasis on diagnostic accuracy, functional improvement and health equity. She provides targeted behavioral health interventions for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions (including ADHD and autism) and chronic stress—often within the context of co-occurring medical illness.

Her therapeutic work draws on a range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), insight-oriented psychotherapy and strengths-based approaches. She has specialized expertise in the treatment of complex trauma with a focus on emotional regulation, identity development and long-term recovery.

Stacy has a particular clinical and research interest in improving the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in women—especially those who have been historically misdiagnosed or overlooked. Her work aims to reduce gender-based disparities and expand access to appropriate, gender-responsive care within primary care settings.

She is experienced in working with patients from diverse cultural, spiritual and socioeconomic backgrounds and is committed to fostering a therapeutic environment that is safe, inclusive and empowering.
