Laila Mahmoud Hashim, MD

Dr. Laila Mahmoud Hashim lived in Qatar before traveling to Sudan to obtain her medical degree from the University of Gezira, Faculty of Medicine, in Medni. She returned to Qatar to complete her pediatric residency at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, where she also finished a genetics fellowship and worked as a geneticist for two years. During that time, she earned Membership in the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health.  

In 2017, Dr. Hashim moved to the United States with her husband to pursue their dreams of U.S.-based training and careers. She completed her pediatric residency at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield and became board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She then joined SIU Medicine as a primary care pediatrician.  

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hashim enjoys spending time with her family, reading, listening to music and painting. She is also a proud mother of three.
