Cochlear Implant Services

    Overview

A Cochlear implant is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing, particularly if the deafness is a result of damage to the sensory hairs in the ear. Audiologists and surgeons at SIU HealthCare can diagnose whether a patient is a candidate for implant surgery, and perform the implantation.
