SIU surgeon assists in frostbite injury recovery

Nick Selby on EverestIn May 2025, pharmacist Nick Selby stood on the top of the world.

The lifelong mountaineer had successfully summited Mount Everest. On his way down from the peak, Nick suffered frostbite to his fingers that would require treatment.

Back home in Shelbyville, he was referred to Dr. Tim Daugherty, an SIU Medicine plastic surgeon who specializes in reconstructive hand surgery.
