SIU Medicine enrolling patients for clinical study to treat depression

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS, October 18, 2021 – Clinical depression affects more than 17 million people in the United States. Among those afflicted, 1 out of 3 has what is called treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Despite medical help, they have been unable to find adequate relief from their symptoms. This includes any study that is: (1) sponsored by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine; (2) conducted in any school of medicine facility; or (3) conducted by school of medicine faculty, staff, residents, or medical students. Plastic Surgery residency curriculum overview

Mentorship model SIU Plastic Surgery utilizes a mentorship model. There are five full-time plastic surgery faculty and one clinical part-time faculty. The resident is assigned to a faculty member monthly. That resident is responsible for keeping the same schedule as the attending, including attending all cases, outpatient procedures in the office, rounds, orders, and notes from PGY1-6.
