Overview

Parathyroid glands are located in the neck, at the back of the thyroid glands. They produce parathyroid hormone, which is important for regulating calcium in the bloodstream and skeleton. Parathyroid disease usually results in these glands producing too much or not enough hormone.

Treatment options

In advanced cases, surgery may be required for treatment.
