Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or acid reflux, is a digestive disease in which stomach acid or bile enters the esophagus, causing discomfort and damaging the lining.
Common symptoms
Symptoms include burning pain in the chest that usually occurs after eating and worsens when lying down.
Treatment options
Changes in diet and lifestyle, or over-the-counter medication may provide temporary relief. Prescription medication may be needed.
