Overview

Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs when kidneys suddenly stop filtering properly. AKI can be serious, but with the right care, it may be reversed.

Common symptoms

This can cause waste and fluid to build up in the body, leading to symptoms like swelling, fatigue, and trouble urinating.
