Neurology

    Overview

Neurology is a branch of medicine dedicated to treating disorders of the nervous system.

Neurologists at SIU Medicine are certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and each emphasizes a particular sub-specialty of neurology, allowing us as a group to maintain an overall excellence comparable to any in the nation. The care of our physicians is complemented by an excellent and highly experienced staff of nurse practitioners, nurses, and support personnel. In addition, our patients benefit from the efforts of various learners of neurology--SIU Neurology resident physicians and medical students.

In addition to general neurologic care, the Department features several comprehensive programs in Alzheimer's Disease, Epilepsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurorehabilitaton, Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders and Stroke. There are also many ongoing clinical trials to study new therapies for these conditions.

The neurology department at SIU Medicine is known for its innovative research in neuroscience and clinical therapeutics.
