Kalyan Kandra, MD, was recently honored with two international awards at the Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP) Annual Meeting in Milwaukee on September 10-14. AAP is a leading global organization dedicated to advancing psychiatric education and fostering the career development of psychiatric educators worldwide. To be recognized with two of its prestigious awards in one year is a career highlight.

Kandra received the AAP Early Career Development Award and the Master Educator IDEA Fellowship Award.

Candidates for the former are evaluated on the quality and breadth of their teaching, educational endeavors such as curriculum innovation, and administrative leadership. The fellowship is awarded to educators who have a demonstrated track record and compelling interest in teaching and curriculum development. It specifically supports participation in the AAP’s three-year Master Educator Program, a "mini-master's" designed to equip psychiatric educators with advanced skills to become effective leaders in health professions education.
