    Infectious diseases are usually contagious diseases caused by the spread of organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites, from person to person. SIU Medicine's infectious disease specialists are experts in the diagnosis and care of patients suffering from such diseases.

     

    SIU Medicine Infectious Disease Travel Clinic 

    We offer vaccines and counseling related to travel, as well as proof of vaccination that may be required for travel. 

    We offer the following vaccines for travelers:

    • Yellow fever
    • Meningococcal 
    • Japanese Encephalitis
    • Hepatitis A and B
    • MMR
    • Polio
    • Typhoid 

    Counseling for parasitic infections especially malaria and avoiding food borne illnesses are routinely done.
