Prashanth Porayette, MD
About me
Prashanth Porayette, MD, Ph.D., is an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at SIU School of Medicine, specializing in pediatric gastroenterology. He completed both a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and a residency in pediatrics at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He also completed a pediatric research fellowship at the Herman B. Wells Center for Pediatric Research at Indiana University School of Medicine. Porayette earned his philosophy degree through the Molecular Medicine Graduate Program at The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA after earning his medical degree at Pramukhswami Medical College at Sardar Patel University in Gujarat, India.
Porayette is board certified in pediatric gastroenterology and is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Gastroenterological Association. He has written and co-authored numerous publications and posters on his research interests, which include pediatric inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, stem cell development and personalized medicine.
