The Women’s Power Lunch Against Cancer, benefiting cancer research at Southern Illinois University Medicine’s Simmons Cancer Institute, is a remarkable opportunity to combine our efforts in the fight against cancer.

Funds raised at this inspirational event are invested in all cancer research at SCI.

This year's guest speaker is sociologist Bertice Berry, PhD, who is a best-selling author and speaker she has appeared on The Tonight Show, Oprah Winfrey, Crossfire, 20-20, PBS’s Between The Lions, Comedy Central, CNN and NPR. She has written more than a dozen books and been named Comedian, Lecturer and Entertainer of the Year at different times.

“If you ain’t dead, you ain’t done,” a character in one of Berry’s novels says. She isn’t done yet either. Berry believes that every one of us has been given a unique purpose, and it is our obligation to find it and use it to improve first ourselves and then those around us.
