    About me

    Katy Scott, DMSc, PA-C, has worked as a physician assistant in family medicine since 1995 and in academia since 1999. Throughout her career, Dr. Scott has served patients in rural and underserved areas of southern Illinois. Since its inception, she has worked with the SIU PA Program for over 23 years in various roles, including serving as a faculty member, a mentor and preceptor, as well as her current role as the Academic Coordinator.  Dr. Scott is an experienced Problem Based Learning tutor and trains other faculty to become PBL facilitators. She has a special interest in the management of obesity and diabetes. Dr. Scott founded a weight management clinic at the SIU Center for Family Medicine in Carbondale where she continues her clinical work. She earned her Doctoral of Medical Science through the University of Lynchburg.
