    Overview

At SIU Medicine our board-certified pediatricians are experienced at managing the physical and mental health of your child. We are committed to providing your child with high quality patient-centered care. Patients will be cared for by both the faculty physicians and resident physicians. A resident physician is a doctor that has graduated from medical school and is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Illinois, and is seeking additional training in pediatrics.

    Walk-in clinics

SIU Pediatrics offers a walk-in clinic. For non-emergency conditions, such as a cough, cold, congestion, diarrhea, pain, fever, rash, sore throat, or wheezing, no appointment is necessary.

HOURS: 7:30-10 a.m., Mondays-Fridays, for current patients only.

    Same-day appointments

Same-day appointments are available for patients with acute illnesses. Please call 217-545-8000 to request an
    appointment.

    Specialty Care clinics

Sometimes your child may require care beyond the expertise of a pediatrician. At SIU Medicine our pediatricians

    After hours

For questions concerning your child’s health after hours, please call our nursing line at 217-545-8000. We always have a pediatrician on-call for consultations.

    International Adoption Clinic

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, with the collaboration of HSHS St John’s Hospital, offers a comprehensive International Adoption Clinic to assist internationally adopted children, their families and their primary care providers who care for them.

Our providers are knowledgeable about medical and social conditions affecting children who are coming from other countries and prepared to offer additional services related to infectious diseases, vaccination assessments, and the possible developmental and social-emotional challenges that may present in this patient population.

    Prescription refills

Most prescriptions can be refilled by contacting your pharmacy. Some prescriptions, however, require a paper prescription from your doctor. If your child takes a medication that requires a paper prescription, please contact us and allow 48 hours for us to prepare the prescription paperwork and have it ready for you to pick up. Please bring photo identification when picking up these prescriptions.
