    Neurodegenerative disease is the umbrella term for diseases that lead to the progressive loss of structure or function of neurons, including death of neurons. This includes diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's disease.
