Appendicitis
Overview
Appendicitis is a condition in which the appendix becomes inflamed or infected, resulting in severe abdominal pain. Left untreated, it is possible for the appendix to rupture, leading to severe systemic infection. Surgery, followed by antibiotics, is the most common treatment.
